How to join PRO?

If you are a pharmacist, student pharmacy or technician interested in joining our organization, there are simple steps that all prospective members need to complete to join PRO.

1. Contact our Executive Director, Andy Pierron at 740-935-8451 or ohioproprn@gmail.com
2. Schedule a treatment assessment at a treatment facility approved by PRO
3. Follow the level of treatment recommended in the treatment assessment at a treatment facility approved by PRO
4. Provide confirmation to our Executive Director that you are completing or have completed the level of treatment recommended in the treatment assessment
5. Meet with one of our regional coordinators or our Executive Director to sign a monitoring and advocacy contract with PRO

How to make a referral to PRO?

If you have a client or colleague that you would like to refer to PRO for any of the reason listed below, please contact our Executive Director, Andy Pierron at 740-935-8451 or ohioproprn@gmail.com. Typical reasons for referral:

1. Suspected substance use disorder in a colleague
2. Triage of the need for a treatment assessment
3. College of pharmacy requiring treatment assessment
4. Criminal conviction requiring assessment and potential monitoring
5. Ohio State Board of Pharmacy sanction
6. Self-referral after intervention by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
7. Referral from treatment center after the completion of a treatment program
8. Self-referral after the completion of a treatment program

What do you have “to do” after joining PRO?*

All PRO clients sign a monitoring and advocacy contract that includes the following regularly occurring requirements:

1. Quota of weekly meeting attendance at 12-step meetings or some equivalent approved by PRO
2. Random, observed urine drug screens
3. Weekly contact with a PRO monitor/advocate
4. Monthly attendance at a pharmacist in recovery meeting
5. Obtain and maintain a 12-step sponsor
6. Obtain and maintain a 12-step home group
7. Obtain approval from PRO for all prescribed medications
8. Surrender self-treatment with most OTC medications
9. Establish and maintain a relationship with a primary care provider
*Because of potential individual circumstances for some clients, contracts can include special circumstances requirements.

What does PRO cost?

All costs associated with treatment and monitoring are the responsibility of the individual. The standard, ongoing costs associated with being a PRO client are the following:

1. Random, urine screens (approximately $100 per screen)*
a. Standard urine screen panel: $59 per urine screen
b. Standard urine screen panel with EtG/EtS: $85 per urine screen
2. PRO monthly monitoring fee
a. Student Pharmacist: $10 per month
b. Pharmacist with suspended license: $20 per month
c. Pharmacist with active license: $55 per month
*Cost of urine screen varies depending on the collection charge at the facility collecting the urine screen
